The French rock star Catherine Ringer will be one of the stars at the 'Carosone Prize' on Monday 18 September at the Arena Flegrea in Naples. Ringer, lead singer with the rock group Les Rita Mitsouko, is considered to be one of the best performers on the French contemporary music scene. Known in her country as the 'Piaf of pop', she gained international acclaim with the release in 1986 of her album 'The no comprendo'. The album was produced by Tony Viconti, who worked with stars like David Bowie and Iggy Pop, and all the preparatory phases, the composition, arrangement and recording were filmed by Jean-Luc Godard, who used the footing in his film 'Soigne Ta Droite' with Jane Birkin. The career of Catherine Ringer continues between work with Les Rita Mitsouko and other solo work in music, cinema and theatre. Last year, in fact, she was the much-applauded protagonist in the 'Concha Bonita' play with music by Nicola Piovani and directed by Alfredo Arias. Ringer will give the details of her original homage to Carosone at a press conference tomorrow, in Corso Vittorio Emanuele n. 9, which will also be attended by Daniele Rousselier, Director of the Grenoble Institute of Naples, actor and singer Mauro Gioia and maestro Tonino Esposito. It will be conducted by Federico Vacalebre, artistic director of the Carosone Prize. RED/BOM
