With its most recent cinematographic productions, Naples is the star of the ninth edition of Stockholm's Italian Film Festival, an event organized by the Italian Institute of Culture in the Swedish capital and the FICC (Italian Federation of Cinema Clubs). The festival's artistic director and organizer is Scandinavia and cinema history expert Vincenzo Esposito. A weighty section of the festival has been devoted to Neapolitan cinema. The fest opened on Friday the 22nd and runs until Thursday September 28 at the Sture Cinema, in the centre of Stockholm. This special Neapolitan section of the festival has been organized in collaboration with the Province of Naples. It will propose the following films to Swedish film-lovers: 'L'uomo in piu'' and 'Le conseguenze dell'amore' by Paolo Sorrentino, 'Il resto di niente' by Antonietta De Lillo, 'E io ti seguo' by Maurizio Fiume and 'Te lo leggo negli occhi' by Valia Santella. Then there are documentaries: 'Venerdi' Santo' (Good Friday) by Herz Frank (shot in Procida, it looks at the traditional Easter 'misteri' procession), 'Cricket Cup' by Massimiliano Pacifico and Diego Liguori, 'La citta' invisibile' by Ugo Capolupo (with John Turturro). Finally, there are a series of shorts selected in collaboration with Pigrecoemme and Mediateca Santa Sofia. The guests of honour will be the most important figures on the current Neapolitan cinema scene: Paolo Sorrentino, Antonietta De Lillo, Teatri Uniti producer Angelo Curti and the director Maurizio Fiume. All of them will receive a special Province of Naples award, along with the actor Silvio Orlando, ''for the contribution made to their homeland via cinema''. The awards will be given at a gala evening on Saturday the 23rd at the Italian Institute of Culture in Stockholm. This will be attended by the Italian ambassador to Sweden, Francesco Caruso, who also has Neapolitan roots. RED/KWP
