Over 10,000 shops that are part of the Ascom-Confcommercio association will make the city's White Night (Notte Bianca) feed off commerce. Those shops are in addition to the stores that are part of the Naples Confesercenti association. In all of the city's districts, shop windows will light up Naples' biggest festival. The 'Business White Night' was presented by Region of Campania Industry Councillor Andrea Cozzolino, who is also the creator of the Naples White Night, along with the City and Province of Naples commerce councillors, Nicola Oddati and Giovanna Martano respectively. The representatives of the city's shopkeepers were with them: the president of the province of Naples branch of Ascom-Confcommercio, Maurizio Maddaloni, and Vincenzo Schiavo, the provincial head of Confesercenti. There will be discounts of 10% at the shops that are taking part in the initiative, as well as special courtesy services for local people and tourists. It will be possible to buy goods on the White Night and come and collect them when the shops re-open in order to be able to enjoy the night's events freely. The goods tourists buy, on the other hand, will be sent directly to their hotels. According to Councillor Cozzolino, September 28, 29 and 30 ''will be days of extraordinary participation. This will give new energy to local commerce, which will have a night of total freedom to set prices, starting with the discounts, decided independently, of 10%. Above all, it will be the night of trade, because without the lit-up shop windows, there is no festival.'' City Councillor Oddati stressed what a good idea it had been to hold a White Night in Naples and said that he is organizing a questionnaire to distribute to all the shopkeepers in order to be able estimate the economic effects on commerce of the night of September 30. ''The stars will be the city's shopkeepers, who have signed up for the second edition of the White Night in mass,'' he added. ''We hope to have lots of tourists walking around on that night because their presence will reward the efforts of all the workers who will be busy from Saturday morning until the morning after.'' Provincial Tourism and Commerce Councillor Giovanna Martano wanted to highlight the ''new synergy between the recently established municipalities and their shopkeepers. About 90% of shopkeepers are taking part. Last year stock ran out in many shops and this year that have stocked up in advance. The amount of business that will be done will go well beyond the 45 million euros registered last year''. RED/KWP
